Tips for becoming an eBay seller

Becoming an eBay seller, can be a very rewarding online position. That said, the job isn’t a simple one and requires mastering in more than one field of expertise including online marketing, SEO, branding, photography, etc. We gathered some essential tips to help you get started.

Research before selling: In most cases you can find similar items to the ones sold by you. Before offering your item, research the competition. See similar items pricing, images, popularity, shipping and any other parameter that’s relevant to your item.

PayPal Payment: PayPal is a real deal maker. Allow payments via PayPal, makes you appear as a more trusted seller.

Free Shipping: Buyers find items that have free shipping more attractive. Having free shipping also improves your ‘Best Match‘ search results. If you are new to eBay we recommend you not offer international shipping with free shipping as you may quickly find the cost more then you bargained for.

Item image: A great way to stand out, is showing high quality images of your item. Take the time to create great photos or images of your items. This is the first thing your buyers see before clicking on the item.

Item description: Your item headline needs to be as clear and focused as possible, the description should be as accurate as you can. Include in the description important details – brand name, size, condition, color
and model number if available.

Seller’s ‘About Me’ page: This page is another important way to gain buyers trust. Let your buyers know that there is a real person or company behind the items sold. A great example of this can be found at http://www.ebay.com/usr/simmo-denis

Communicate with your buyers: Message your buyers after a sale, let them know when the item ships, if there is any delay and generally keep them up to date.

Know where to list your items:  It is very important that you list your items in the correct category. When useing the eBay quick list tool, eBay will automatically suggest which area to list this item. Make sure to look over the category and don't be afraid to move it to a place you think it would be suited. The only exception is when it comes to adult materials, in which case eBay has very strict guidelines for these types of listing. You can find the guidelines here
